What we measure

The markers that matter for your heart, kidneys, and metabolism.

Many platforms compete on how many markers they can test. We focus on the ones research ties most closely to preventable risk, and the ones you can actually do something about. We score them for your biology, then turn the results into a plan with a coach to act on it.

The full picture

One connected system

Your heart, kidneys, and metabolism move together. We read them as one picture, not a stack of separate tests.

Cardiovascular

Heart and arteries

Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)

Counts the cholesterol-carrying particles that can build up in artery walls, a signal research ties more closely to heart risk than standard LDL alone.

Lipoprotein(a)

An inherited cholesterol particle linked to higher cardiovascular risk; because it is largely genetic, reading it once helps personalize your plan.

LDL, HDL & Total Cholesterol

The standard lipid panel, read together to see how cholesterol is balanced and moving through your arteries.

Triglycerides

A blood fat that tracks with diet and metabolic health and rounds out the cholesterol picture.

High-Sensitivity CRP

A sensitive read on low-grade inflammation, which research links to cardiovascular risk.

Blood Pressure

The force in your arteries over time, one of the most established contributors to heart and kidney risk.

Including ApoB and Lp(a), advanced markers a routine lipid panel often leaves out.

Kidney

Filtration and early damage

eGFR

An estimate of how well your kidneys filter your blood, the headline number for kidney function.

Urine Albumin-to-Creatinine (UACR)

Checks for small amounts of protein leaking into urine, an early signal of kidney stress.

Serum Creatinine

A waste product your kidneys clear from the blood; it anchors the eGFR estimate.

Urine Albumin

Protein measured directly in urine, paired with creatinine to catch early kidney change.

Urine Creatinine

Read alongside urine albumin so the protein result holds up whether the sample is dilute or concentrated.

A full kidney panel, because early kidney decline rarely shows symptoms until late.

Metabolic

Blood sugar and body composition

HbA1c

Reflects your average blood sugar over the past few months, a steadier read than a single measurement.

Fasting Glucose

A snapshot of blood sugar after not eating, useful for spotting early metabolic shifts.

Body Mass Index

A quick height-to-weight ratio we read in context with ethnicity-aware targets, never in isolation.

Waist Circumference

A simple measure of central fat that research links to metabolic and heart risk.

Early signals of insulin resistance, read before they reach the diabetes range.

A single number rarely tells the truth on its own. Read together, and scored for your biology, these markers reveal where risk is building before symptoms appear.

Why Porter Health

Focused on what matters

We test the markers that change what you do, grounded in the American Heart Association’s CKM framework, PREVENT risk scoring, and Life’s Essential 8. The signal that predicts risk, without the noise.

Culturally intelligent

Your results are scored against targets adjusted for ethnicity where the research supports it, e.g. South Asian. A number that reads "normal" on a standard chart is not normal for everyone.

Human coach in the loop

Every result is reviewed one-on-one with a health coach who meets you where you are and turns your numbers into a prevention plan you will actually keep.

Beyond the bloodwork

Lifestyle factors

The behaviors that move every marker above

  • Stress (PSS-4)
  • Diet quality (MEPA)
  • Sleep duration
  • Physical activity
  • Tobacco use

Risk-enhancing factors

Context that changes how we read your results

  • Family history of premature CVD
  • South Asian ancestry
  • Metabolic syndrome
  • Atrial fibrillation
  • Peripheral artery disease
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Sleep apnea
  • Periodontal disease

Your assessment

Your markers, translated into the scores clinicians use.

We don’t hand you a wall of lab values and wish you luck. Porter Health reads them together and turns them into standards-based scores built on the frameworks cardiologists rely on. This is a snapshot, a point-in-time read that updates as your numbers and habits change, not a one-time report.

Heart Health Score

Life’s Essential 8

The eight factors the AHA links most closely to cardiovascular health, scored together.

Heart-Kidney-Metabolic Stage

AHA CKM staging

Where you sit on the AHA’s 2023 framework for how risk builds across the connected system.

Heart Risk Score

AHA PREVENT

Your estimated cardiovascular risk over time, calculated with the AHA’s PREVENT equations.

Risk-Enhancing Factors

Context that raises risk

Conditions and history the research links to higher risk, e.g. family history, South Asian ancestry, or metabolic syndrome, factored into how we read your results.

From data to action

Your numbers become a plan. Our health coach helps you act on it.

Your assessment becomes a prevention plan drawing from 150+ evidence-based actions. Then a coach helps you put the plan into action and adjusts as your numbers change. We meet you where you are, your biology, your history, your life. That is how prevention actually happens.

  • One-on-one human coaching
  • Personalized from 150+ evidence-based actions
  • Reviewed and adjusted over time
